A butterfly in its embryonic stage is known as a larva, or caterpillar. The caterpillar is what translates or metamorphose into a beautiful and colorfully radiant butterfly. This process of change is indispensable for the evolving caterpillar as it keeps digging and burrowing its way out of its protective cocoon in order to begin the journey of life.

This painful but necessary process strengthens its wings, prepares and equips it for the challenge of the sky, a place of dominion that must be conquered with strong, flapping wings. For the butterfly-to-be caterpillar to remain in its comfort-zone cocoon is to suffer still-birth and permanent deformity, thus becoming useless for life.

I once heard an intriguing story that demonstrates the power of resilient endurance in the face of daunting limitations. Truck loads of codfishes were shipped into a foreign country on two different occasions for exports earnings, and of course, for culinary purposes. It was discovered at the end of the trips that the cod fishes lost their flavour. Exasperated with the colossal loss of fortune, the handlers introduced some catfishes in the next voyage as "escorts" to the codfishes. The decision was informed by the fact that codfishes and catfishes are at cross-purposes as sworn enemies.

The codfish had no moment’s respite as it brought to fore its survival instincts, staying awake, maneuvering, ducking and swimming away from the predators all the time that the lengthy trip endured! He had to stay awake and alive, or die in the course of the journey, a seemingly impossible prospect by all account!

Worry is getting worked up and stressed out about the outcome of anything until you reach the point of mental, physical, emotional exhaustion, and breakdown.  It is not on any human record that worry has ever had the capacity to solve problems or issues of life. In fact, scientists inform us that the human is wired not to accommodate worry or prolonged stress. This being the reason that dwelling on an issue with anxiety or worry, has the capacity, over time, to destroy your physical, mental and emotional health with disastrous consequences. God knowing this gave us the prophylaxis to prevent this by telling us “be anxious for nothing” (Phil. 4:6).

The highest form of gratitude is expressed through praise. This is why William James, one of America’s frontline, top-notched psychologists remarked that ‘the desire to be appreciated is one of the greatest drives of a human being”. Ingratitude is an act of wickedness that must not be tolerated in the life of a Christian. On the other hand, feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like “wrapping a present and not giving it”

Praise is a key that unlocks heaven’s gate. When the praise goes up, the blessings come down. Praise is an indispensible kingdom principle that leads to comprehensive wholeness. Don’t ignore or disdain God’s daily blessings of provisions, protection, blessing, love and mercies on your life! Give Him the praise for your daily blessings, whether they are at the infinitesimal or colossal scale. Out of the ten lepers that the Lord healed, only the Samaritan came back to say “thank you, Lord”.
