Repositioning Yourself for the Blessings (Part 2)
By Aduke Obey | April Sun 3, 2011

Last week, we examined the factors that lead to divine blessings. We were able to establish the fact that diligent study and application of the Word of God in every area of our lives (Joshua 1:8), while allowing the Word to transform our world view and carnal mindset, is the error-proof way of provoking the rain of divine blessings in our lives.

One powerful principle that Christians seem to distain and dismiss with contempt is the principle of giving (Luke 6:38). The Lord demonstrated this love for humanity through the unparalled sacrificial gift of salvation which was achieved through the painful and shameful death of our Lord Jesus Christ on a lonely Cross at Calvary (John 3:16).

It is disheartening to observe that scores of professing Christians disregard this spiritual law with impunity and a certain measure of carnality. Many Christians see giving as unnecessary, a burden or punishment.

Giving is a function of your faith and love for God (Eph. 5:1). Giving is a demonstration of our love for God and for others (I John 2:9-11). We don’t give to God because we need His blessings in our lives. Become a co-worker with the Lord and ignite His favour in your life by furthering the kingdom of God through your giving. God only entrusts His riches to those who are faithful stewards of His resources.

Break the backbone of poverty or lack in your life by sacrificially giving to the things of the Lord.

Giving is an opportunity for worship. You cannot worship God in Spirit and in truth until you are willing to surrender your life and everything about it, including your possession, family career and worldly gains to the righteous course of the gospel.

A heart that is not yielded to the will of God cannot practice the law of giving in a way that will please God. Our heart is always found in the place where our treasures are.

We become like Jesus when we give. If the love of God has touched you, you will want to touch others too with love. Giving is a great opportunity to become like Jesus, because God is love.

If you are serious about receiving blessings from the fountain of life in heavenly places, begin the life-long process of renewing your mind about giving. It is more blessed to give than to receive.

  • Giving is an act of obedience
  • Give to God willingly (2 Cor. 8;11-12)
  • Give sacrificially (2 Cor. 8:2)
  • Give generously (2 Cor. 9:6)
  • Give systematically (1 Cor. 1:-3)
  • Give cheerfully (2 Cor. 9:7)

God has commanded us to give. You can provoke the blessings of God by this awesome principle of divine prosperity.
